2020 is going to be a massive year for the gaming industry. This is because it will feature the release of the next generation of gaming consoles, PS5 and XBOX Series X. In this backdrop, Sony has decided to breathe life into some of the gamers who have become dormant for a while now.
Sony has organised a special event on June 4, where the company will reveal the first look ‘at the future of gaming’ on the PlayStation 5. In this event, the company will showcase the lineup of games for PS5 for the first time. The event will be live-streamed online on Thursday, June 4, at 1:00 PM Pacific time. However, the Indian viewers will be able to watch it at 1.30 PM IST on June 5.
Experts suggest that this event will primarily focus on games rather than the console itself. Sony is keen to keep the details of the upcoming console as secret as possible. They have released little to no information regarding the PS5. So far, Sony has unveiled a logo, the PS5 gamepad, and a tech demo showing the console’s graphics capability. Apart from that, everything else is shrouded in mystery.
Playstation 5 vs XBOX Series X
Sony isn’t willing to shed more light on details on the different games lineup. But they did mention that the event will feature games from large and small studios. It is confirmed that The PlayStation 5 will feature backwards compatibility. However, Sony has also said that only the “top 100 PS4 games” will be supported by the PS5 at launch.
The PlayStation 5 will go toe to toe against Microsoft’s Xbox Series X which is also set to roll out this year. Both companies suffered some setbacks in their plans to release the consoles due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they are making plans to redo their release schedule as per the global situation.
